Weird and Wonderful Folk Art Carved Vertebrae (?) Bone Bat! portrait frame One small chip on theThis crazy and I think pretty amazing thing! Its a bat, but appears to have been carved from what I think must have been a lumbar vertebrae, I would guess from a cow. One hole was drilled through for the eyes and a slit for the beak, and Im not quite sure what other interventions! The whole thing was stained and mounted to a wooden panel, which has a good amount of age. Pretty excellent, and though Ive seen a few other folk art creations made of
