with part of old paper label on the bottom half and one small split near the edge of the lid on one side

Brass clasps attaching the various parts

but other parts of the world

These are akin to the wooden nesting boxes painted in primary colors I am forever looking for

Wonderful Folk Art Black Dog, Carved Wood with Polychrome white and black I'd keep them near atA total charmer, much better in hand, with nice age patina on the black paint, and fine carve marks all over. Love at first sight, found in PA, with a bit of a feline aspect but I do believe a dog. (Best of both worlds!) 6" l x 3 7 8" t x 2 1 8" w, very good condition. 1920s 40s or so I would guess.
