The nautical artwork on this whimsical design comes from an 1880’s children’s travel book

and trimmed the pockets in an ink drawing of bumblebees we found in a Victorian insect encyclopedia

super cool opera-length kimono from an 1880s print unearthed in a library archive

We reworked the images and added our own touches — including the heart-in- hand (the symbol for kindness and charity)

The sleeping woman comes from Albert Joseph Moores enchanting oil painting Lillies, while the elements of her dreamscape were created from drawings and paintings spanning three centuries including scenes from the Boboli Gardens, Argyle House
