These "blow by gases" consist of an unburned (usually gaseous) fuel and oil air mixture. These two mixtures are fed into the crankcase (usually via a separator). In a new engine, the leaks between the combustion chamber and the crankcase are very small. During operation running time, wear and tear occur and the crankcase pressure increases.
